Goal

Precision oncology already works, if a hospital has genomic sequencing, evidence curators, and a tumor board. Most don't. OpenOncology is the same evidence-based matching logic, open and free — rank a mutation against approved and repurposing candidates, cite the evidence, and say plainly when nothing is actionable yet.

How each case moves forward

01

VARIANT CALL

Actionability Check

Validate clinical relevance in your cancer context. If not actionable, we state it directly.

02

DRUG RANK

Repurposed Options

Rank already-approved candidates first — lower cost, lower risk, faster decision.

03

CUSTOM BRIEF

Custom Discovery Brief

Structure prediction, docking, and lead ranking generated only when repurposing fails.

04

SYNTHESIS

Manufacture + Funding

Place a synthesis request and launch crowdfunding from the same case in one step.

Vision

Repurposing covers most cases. It won't cover all of them. When a mutation has no approved or repurposing match, OpenOncology escalates to structure prediction and docking, and can route a synthesis request straight into open crowdfunding — so an unmatched mutation becomes a queued discovery problem, not a dead end.

Repurposing match found→Done
No match→Custom brief → crowdfunded synthesis

Community

Built solo so far, out in the open. The validation methodology, the bugs found and fixed, and the cases where results came up short are all public. If you work in computational biology or oncology, or want to help expand the holdout cohorts — this needs more hands than one.
